I wanted to use a serpentine stitch to quilt a recent project so I created this little stitch card to keep track of my machine's stitches. There are a few of these on my Viking 875Q of varying widths and lengths with endless adjustment possibilities. So I documented the standard stitches and then started fiddling.
Someone once told me that stitching on paper can dull your needle but it's the only thing I had with straight lines. All I do now is hold up the card to any potential projects and pick my stitch and it's settings. It's primitive, but it works!
That's a fantastic idea!!! Last night I just started a little notebook where I am writing all the details of the quilts I am working on, like needle position and stitch length so when I get interrupted, I can go right back to it. The stitch chart is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good idea! I will look for this stitch on my machine as I am terrible for just doing straight line quilting. This way I can do straight line quilting but it will look like I can do fancy quilting!
ReplyDeletethat's a brilliant idea! I keep a spare needle in a case especially for sewing through paper :-D
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, I am always forgetting what setting I used :)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea, Elena! I have all these stitches on my machine that I never use. Maybe if I had a reference sheet to see how they would look, I'd use them more!
ReplyDeleteGreat oto have handy!
